Nick said he couldn't leave ASU without doing the Pat Tillman Run. Pat Tillman (#42) played football for ASU and then played in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals for a few years. After the Sept 11th attacks, Tillman turned down a $3.6 million contract extension so he could enlist in the US Army. Nearly 2 years into a deployment in Afghanistan Tillman was killed by friendly fire. There has always been a big conspiracy as to a 'coverup' of what really happened with his death. The state of AZ has several memorials to honor him, and ASU has "Pat's Run" every year to honor #42. The run is 4.2 miles and ends at the 42-yard line on the Sun Devils Stadium. The proceeds of the run go to support the Tillman Military Scholars program. Nick loved doing this race as a group of this construction classmates were just a few of the over 35,000 participants.
